"Van Eyks, van Eyks, Where Have You Been?", August 20th

We've been up to London to worship the King. That is what we did this past Lord's Day. We drove to London in the morning to worship at Grove Chapel and to visit with Rev. Mark Johnston, his wife Fiona, and his daughter Lindsay.

I met Mark at the Banner of Truth Conference in Grantham, PA last May and it was a delight to meet up with him again and to see 3/4 of his family. Lucy has read, with profit, a couple of his commentaries in the "Let's Study" Series published by the Banner of Truth and so was excited to see him whom she had read. It was a delightful providence that, after giving Kristiana the stuffed sheep dogs for her birthday present the night before, Mark should preach on Psalm 23:1-2. Mark sweetly reminded us of our good Shepherd. The fellowship at the manse was special and Fiona kindly remembered Kristiana's birthday and decked the dessert with candles. It was a blessing to worship the King of kings (and queens) in London.

We returned to Cambridge for the evening service where Ian Hamilton preached superbly on 2 Corinthians 5:21: God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
